Wedgefield
is a Friendly and Peaceful Golf, Equestrian Community located in
Orlando Florida. The Beauty of Wedgefield is it's laid back
environment where golf carts and horses are used for
transportation almost as much as cars.
The Wedgefield community is diverse in both age and culture and offers a great
atmosphere for enjoying the natural beauty and great weather of Central Florida.
We encourage you to visit Wedgefield and have lunch at the Club House and get to
know some of the people that call Wedgefield Home.
Our Next General Meeting is on Wednesday,
February 8th at
7:30 PM at the Wedgefield Club House.

Note
from the President
As your newly elected Wedgefield Homeowners
Association President, I want to take this opportunity
to send you a short note of appreciation. I want to
thank all of the members that were able to attend the
meeting and cast a vote, showing their confidence in
electing me to the position of President. I would also
like you to welcome the two other NEW Board Members that
now serve you: Anthony Grabowski is your new
Vice-President and Pam Goode is your new Director who
will be taking on the responsibilities of enforcing the
Codes and Covenants. An updated listing of all 2012
Board Officers and Directors is located in the last
section of this newsletter.
We have an excellent Board of Directors this year
that will bring different experiences and expertise to
the Board. Most members return from last year’s Board
and the two new members will bring us new ideas and a
fresh perspective to help us foster new goals and create
some long-term plans for our community. If I might
borrow a statement provided by our new Vice-President,
Anthony Grabowski, in his letter of acceptance to our
Directors, “LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN”! I believe this is an
excellent motto for us to adhere to as we start this
brand new year.
I have been a Director on the WHOA Board for four
years. I volunteered to serve on the Board because I
wanted to get involved in our community to help ensure
that the Wedgefield community remains the BEST PLACE to
live in East Orange County. As your new President, I
want to make sure that we have a strong voice that is
recognized and heard by our Orange County government. I
also want to ensure that our neighborhood remains safe
and that the property and homes we own retain their
value. Our homes, for the most part, are the biggest
investments we will make in our life time – and it’s up
to us to work together to make sure we protect and
safeguard them to the best of our ability. You have my
word that all of my efforts will be dedicated and
directed towards the best interests of the residents of
our Wedgefield community.
Each Month Neighborhood Watch Information will continue to be
published in an ongoing effort to keep our community informed on
crime watch matters.
During the last half of DECEMBER to the present date of January 15,
2012, based on Orange County Sheriff’s crime statistics and
individual reports there WERE 3 reported RESIDENTIAL burglaries ONE
on MACON in the 20700 BLOCK, ONE ON BANCROFT in the 2500 BLOCK and
ONE on MELVILLE in the 20100 BLOCK. There were also 2 AUTO
BURGLARIES ONE on ALBION in the 2300 BLOCK and ONE on MARDI GRAS in
the 20300 BLOCK. ADDITIONALLY, THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL REPORTS OF
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF (MAIL BOXES DESTROYED) on the following streets in
the ESTATES Area of Wedgefield, OVERTON, DECKER, PADDOCK, QUINLAN
and MARDI GRAS.
The only way, we are going to catch individuals causing the mail box
damage is for someone to wittiness the act and immediately call the
Sheriff with a vehicle description. We quite often have a deputy in
the subdivision. Those who have been pulled for running a stop sign
or caught speeding will attest to that.
Citizens on Patrol is a volunteer unit of the Orange County
Sheriff’s Office, providing the Sheriff's Office with extra sets of
eyes and ears to enhance law enforcement.
The goal of the Citizens on Patrol program is to reduce crime
through increased cooperation between citizens and the Orange County
Sheriff's Office. Orange County extends over one thousand square
miles. The Sheriff’s Office is very appreciative of the help it
receives from
the Citizens on Patrol Volunteer Teams.
We have a number of exciting events planned for the year,
starting with our Annual Car Show on Saturday, February 11th. So
polish up your car and show it off. This year, not only will there
be trophies but monetary prizes. Every entrant will receive a goody
bag with lots of good things inside including raffle tickets and a
t-shirt. Let me know if you can help with this event. Here are some
things we need: Donations of items to be raffled off, Donations of
items to be put in goody bag, Cash or gift cards, Sponsorships,
People who would be willing to Keep a roster of cars that pre

donations.
The Green Thumb Garden Club met on Thursday, January
5th. Sylvia Cox arranged for Jennifer Ramos to bring the
presentation on making our gardens welcome to
Butterflies. Sylvia had several butterfly plants to give
to those gathered. There was a very good attendance for
this meeting.
Our February 2nd meeting will again be held at the
Club House. Please join us for this meeting at 11 am.
The topic will be lilies, especially Amaryllis,
Agapanthus (Lily of the Nile) and Day Lilies. Martha
Bradford will be presenting this subject on Lilies.

for the Entrance Way, please Contact Janis Thaw at

Would you know what to do if your
community was hit by a major disaster or if a neighbor
was injured or missing? Sure, 911 and have the local
Sheriff’s Deputies or Firemen come take care of the
problem. What if the Deputies or Firemen were involved
in the disaster or unable to reach Wedgefield? Once
again, Orange County is offering a program to train the
residents of Wedgefield to respond to an emergency. It
is called the CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams)
program.
If enough residents are interested, the
Instructors will come to Wedgefield and conduct 14 hours
of training to prepare the residents to respond to
disasters, whether they are hurricane, fire, tornado or
terrorism. You will learn Disaster Preparedness, Fire
Suppression, Disaster Medical Operations (triage and
treating life threatening injuries), Disaster Medical
Operations (assessment, treatment and hygiene), CPR/AED,
Light Search and Rescue, Team organization
and Disaster Psychology and Terrorism.
